LIVES AT STAKE!
To
hunt the unearthly, it
helps to be an unearthly or an extraterrestrial being. Hidden in plain site
with the rest of
nonhumans or once human beings is the logical way to assess the enemy. Being
a Vulcan helped; very few humans had
seen a Vulcan and even less had even heard of a Vulcan. The reverse was sometimes
dangerous because Vulcans
sort of looked like demons or vampires to some Earthlings. Try and hold a logical
discussion with a
highly emotional, over stimulated and terrified human, it was next to
impossible at times. Being stabbed with
a wooden stake and not turning to dust usually got their attention, it was
painful but effective. It was more
fortunate that a Vulcan’s heart was not in the same place as a human’s.
The green blood of a Vulcan had another
startling effect on humans; it was not what they were expecting.
Spock
of Vulcan had become
a Vampire Slayer to help the human race against such a formidable enemy. His
strength, intelligence and endurance made
him one of the most feared slayers. Most
of his hunting had been on intergalactic outposts and Star Bases where the
Vampires had followed the humans as they ventured into space. It was time that
he traveled to the source of
the Vampire infestation, Earth.
Vampires
feared him but
were attracted to him for some illogical reason. Once they had tasted his copper
based blood,
their opinion changed. That is after
they had stopped puking for hours afterwards.
The undead thought it was impossible to vomit after their fragile human
existence had ended, but they still had the ability to purge their ‘bodies’ of
indigestible substances. It was just as
annoying after death.
In
his studies of the
Vampires and demons, Spock had discovered the unique signals and chemical
traces that were present when these ‘supernatural’ beings were around.
The Earthlings referred to their perception
of these signals and chemicals as their sixth sense, ghost hunting abilities, ‘goose
bumps’ or their mammalian fight or flight response. The signals were basically
electrical and
magnetic in nature and since matter or energy cannot be destroyed, the demons
and vampires possessed these qualities in another form as other life forms
did. Even if the humans had incorrectly classified
the vampires as being dead.
There
was one human who
had impressed him in his discovery of these electrical and magnetic
signals. Dr. Leonard McCoy was this
perceptive human and his quizzical and inquiring mind was sensitive to these
peculiar ‘feelings’ whenever these beings were around. McCoy was
very aware of his surroundings and
embraced any information that his five senses, or his sixth, sent to his brain. It
was puzzling to Spock at times how this
doctor could filter out the cacophony of data that was flooding the sensory
receptors in his brain, interpret and sort the data and then make his assessment
with astonishing accuracy. McCoy could
do this without his tricorder or a computer; it was all done by his highly
tuned feelings. However, these feelings
came with large amounts of verbal descriptions, some embellished, and his
sarcastic spins. Their relationship was
deep and their abilities complimented and completed each other. Spock, who was
trained on logic and the dismissal
of emotions, viewed the Vampires as they were another life entity. McCoy focused
on the human element, the
pathological and parasitic needs of the Vampires and their human prey. The Vampires
were once human but after death
had become more powerful than their previous mortal state. Between their logical
and physiological
knowledge of Vampires Spock and McCoy made a very effective team in
extinguishing these threats to humans.
All
of their data had lead
them to Sunnydale, a small town in
California that had the all American charm which obscured the seething
vortex of evil below its perfectly cultivated lawns and paved streets. Spock
had met a professor from England who was teaching at Sunnydale High School. Rupert
Giles, a Watcher, was his name and his
calm demeanor, well structured thought processes and his photographic memory
was just the person Spock had been seeking.
It so conveniently happened that the ‘Hellmouth’ was directly below the
library of Sunnydale High. They had kept
in touch through computer messages and reports from other Watchers and Slayers. Giles
was a Watcher and his slayer Buffy
Summers had managed to keep down the outflow of demons and Vampires to a fairly
impressive level. It was the unfortunate
escape of some of the Vampires out into the galaxy that necessitated Spock’s
and McCoy’s visit to Earth.
Dr.
McCoy was from Earth
and he had grown up in the state of Georgia.
He had a daughter from his previous marriage that had ended in a nasty
divorce. Joanna, his daughter, was in
her fifth semester at her father’s college of Ole’ Miss or University of
Mississippi, she was following her father’s love of medicine. Joanna was in
Nursing School there. Father and
daughter had kept in touch sporadically over the years but when she ‘left the
nest’ she reconnected with McCoy. Like
her father, she possessed the same sensitivity to the spiritual realm, and this
gift strengthened the bond with her father that had been suppressed by her mother.
Spock
and McCoy checked
into the Sunnydale Hotel when they arrived in town. Spock contacted Giles and
set up a meeting
that evening for dinner at their hotel;
which
was located three
miles from the high school. McCoy had
grown quiet after they checked into their room, which was very unusual for him.
Spock
noticed that he was
massaging the bridge of his nose frequently; this indicated that McCoy either
had a bad headache or he perceived the presence of Vampires or demons.
“Do
you have a headache,
Doctor?” Spock asked concerned.
“Yes,
I haven’t had one
this bad since Beta Cetus IV.” McCoy
said as he sat down on their bed. “There
is a lot of activity in this little town.
No wonder it’s known as the ‘Hellmouth’.” McCoy
was very pale and Spock noticed that he
was sweating.
“Do
you need for me to
help you block some of the stimuli?”
Spock asked.
“No,
not now; I need to
get a feel of what we are up against here.” McCoy winced and Spock sat beside
him. “Did your friend Giles ever mention
anything about a ‘Master’?”
“Yes,
he has. The ‘Master’ is a strong malevolent being
that essentially is the focal force of what we have been fighting.” Spock
said as he gently placed his fingers on
McCoy’s face. Spock gasped and
reflexively broke the contact. He
rested his hand on McCoy’s lean
shoulders. In spite of his strong mental
abilities, McCoy was vulnerable to the strength of the Vampires. However, his
slight build could be
misleading; McCoy could hold his own in a fight with humans and some humanoids. He
could inject a hypo full of garlic Holy
Water into a Vampire before they knew what hit them. If only his acid wit and
the verbal insults
could damage their opponents, McCoy would be a powerful slayer. “Are you
able to control the pain? Can I be of help?” Spock asked.
McCoy
let out a cry and
fainted into Spock’s arms. When the
amount of information was overwhelming or their enemy was aware of McCoy’s
psychic probes, his mind would shut down in a protective maneuver. This protective
response would be very
dangerous if McCoy were in close proximity to a demon or a Vampire. The Doctor’s
subconscious mind had developed
strong walls of defense against any breech through his years of adapting to his
gift. Spock had encountered this mental
fortress once while attempting to meld with McCoy. Even with the Doctor’s
permission to perform
the meld it was impossible to get beyond the barrier without harming
McCoy. It was frustrating for them both
for Spock wanted to mind meld with McCoy and the Doctor wanted it as well in
their next step in their relationship.
Spock
gently laid McCoy on
the bed and rested his hand on his forehead.
The protective barrier was intact and conscious areas of his brain were
flooded by endorphins to ease the pain and allowed his brain to rest.
At
seven in the evening,
Spock gently shook McCoy’s shoulder. The
blue eyes opened and were dulled by the effects of the endorphins and
fatigue. Spock informed him that it was
time to meet Giles for dinner. McCoy
changed his clothes and followed Spock down to the lobby of their hotel.
Giles
was waiting for them
and he greeted them with his British genteel manner. Spock and Giles did most
of the conversing
about the Vampire and demon population of this small town and the global impact
that it was having, not to mention the intergalactic impact. McCoy listened
to their conversation but was
frequently distracted by the impulses that he was receiving. Even Giles voiced
his concern about his pale
countenance and his distant presence.
Spock answered for McCoy by informing Giles that McCoy could hone in on
the presence of any supernatural enemy.
Giles suggested caution in concentrating on the signature impulses
because the ‘Master’ could trace McCoy’s thoughts back to him. After
dinner, they made arrangements to meet Giles at Sunnydale High tomorrow around
one pm. Giles would introduce them to
Buffy and his support team. Spock and
McCoy wished him a safe journey home and a good night. When they returned to
their room, McCoy quickly
changed for bed and fell asleep. Spock
meditated for a few hours and then slid under the covers next to McCoy. He placed
a protective arm across the Doctor
and he let part of his mind rest while the other was alert for any attacks
physically or mentally from their adversaries.
The
next morning, McCoy
awoke refreshed and alert. After
breakfast, they studied the history of Sunnydale, the progression of the
Vampire and demon attacks and the increasing emerging population.
They
arrived at Sunnydale
High at 12:50 pm and made their way to the library. McCoy could not get over
the fashions of the
young girls; things had changed a lot since he was back from his medical
practice in space. He hoped that Joanna
had not adopted this style of skimpy tight clothes. The girl’s appearances
added at least five to
ten years to their chronological age, and the boys with their low riding baggy
pants or too tight jeans was a whole different matter. Giles greeted them in
the library and had
them sit at a back table away from the students, where they could concentrate
and have fewer interruptions. Spock and
McCoy studied the various text books that Giles had available for them; Spock
was quite impressed by Giles’ library collection. An hour later a petite
blonde girl bounced
her way into the library and over to Giles.
Neither Spock nor McCoy could tell that this girl was the famed ‘Buffy
the Vampire Slayer’. Her manner had a
capricious nature and her way of talking was very informal for one with such a
heavy duty to perform. A tall dark
haired boy and an auburn haired girl joined the group as well. Xander
was a typical teenage boy who didn’t
seem to fit in anywhere; his body language suggested that he was not aware of
how attractive he was. He appeared to be
intensely loyal to Buffy and Giles. The
girl, Willow, was a pretty, very gentle person whose large brown eyes revealed
an old wisdom inside her. McCoy warmed
to her immediately, Willow seemed so much like Joanna. Giles introduced
Spock and McCoy and they
were greeted with the half excited manner of teenagers around adults. The teenagers’
manner changed when they
recounted their fights with the Vampires.
Once again, Spock and McCoy were amazed that this warrior slayer was this
atypical petite girl. Willow kept
staring at Spock, her expressive brown eyes scanned his face and his elegant
long fingers; she was totally captivated by his Vulcan features.
“Mr.
Spock, do you mind
telling us what you are?” Willow asked
shyly.
“I
am a Vulcan. I am not from Earth but from the planet
Vulcan.” Spock replied.
“You
mean like ET?” Xander
asked in an innocent tone.
“ET?”
Spock asked and he
turned to Giles.
Giles
cleared his throat,
“ET is a fictional extraterrestrial being who embodies a child-like
appearance. In the story his is
accidently left on Earth and he befriends a young boy. They form a special bond
and ET is able to contact his ship and returns to his own kind.”
“I
loved that movie!”
Xander said, “His heart glowed inside of his chest and the tip of his finger
glowed too. He could move objects around
with his mind and he unwilted a flower. “
Spock’s
eyebrow rose in
response to the description of ET’s abilities.
“I
do not possess the
ability of telekinesis, nor does my heart become illuminated within my thoracic
cavity. I can restore a flower to health
by adequate hydration and nutrient rich soil but my mind cannot achieve that
ability either.” Spock said looking
sternly at Xander.
“What’s
telekenessing?”
The young man asked.
“Telekinesis,
Xander!” Willow responded and rolled her
eyes. “It’s the ability to move objects
with one’s mind. I’ve seen it performed
by witches. What else can Vulcans do,
Mr. Spock?”
“Let
me answer this for
you, Mr. Spock.” Giles said with an
apologetic tone. “Vulcans are well known
for their logical thinking and their mental prowess. They are a very intelligent
and evolved race. They also possess great physical strength.”
Willow’s
expression
intensified to extreme awe, “I would like to hear more about your race and your
knowledge. You are very, um, handsome.”
“Thank
you.” Spock said with a nod of his head.
“Giles
says that you are a
great slayer.” Buffy said with a dubious
tone. “I haven’t heard of you before.”
“I
have been exterminating
Vampires beyond Earth’s orbit and throughout the galaxy. Vampires have
unfortunately followed humans
as they have ventured into space, to put it simply.” Spock said.
“So
you’re like a Jedi to
the Vamp’s Empire.” Buffy said.
“Do you have a laser sword stake and all of
that stuff?”
“A
Jedi?” Spock inquired from Giles, “To what is she
referring?”
“Once
again they are
fictitious characters from a movie franchise.
The Jedi are a highly trained benevolent force that battles with the
‘Dark Side’ powers of the evil Empire.
Both sides have the ability of telekinesis and mind control; it is no
surprise that the same movie director-producer was responsible for both films.”
Giles explained.
“Vulcans
have the ability
to read minds and influence the thoughts of all life forms.” McCoy said,
speaking to the group for the
first time. “They do not perform this
without the person’s permission but there are some exceptions in some
instances. At least in this universe,
that is.”
“This
universe?” Willow asked.
“There is more than one?”
“There
are many different alternate
universes that like the threads in a tapestry overlap each other and in certain
circumstances it is possible to cross over to another.” Spock said.
“Maybe
in another universe
I get all of the cute girls.” Xander
said. Then he looked at McCoy, “So what’s
your super power?”
“It’s
my charming
personality.” McCoy said and everyone
laughed, except Spock.
“Dr.
McCoy tends to
undermine his abilities. He is very
sensitive to the presence of Vampires and demons. He is able to track these
beings and in some
instances perceive their thoughts.”
Spock said looking with a gentle expression at McCoy.
“It
makes a good party
trick. It can open up all lot of
conversations, especially when you want to pick up a cute girl.” McCoy
said with a wink at Xander.
“So
Dr. McCoy picks up the
vibes from the Vampires and Mr. Spock does the slaying, cool.” Willow
said.
“Do
you encounter other bad
guys in space besides the Vampires?”
Buffy asked.
“There
are alien races
that are considered to be hostile to humans.”
Spock said. “We have encountered
many in our travels. The Klingon race in
particular does not regard humans or their allies with anything other than contempt
and the desire to dispose of the human race all together. These Klingons have
tried to adapt the
genetic DNA of human Vampires into their own DNA in an attempt to produce a
‘’super human” Klingon hybrid. The only
results that we have observed are the characteristic facial and cranial
features of the Vampires on the Klingons with no increase in bodily strength
and no desire to consume human blood.”
“They
just like to shed
human blood.” McCoy said. “Speaking
of bloodshed, tell us more about
this ‘Master’ and how he controls the demons.
Is there a Vampire Master or king?”
McCoy asked.
Giles
filled Spock and
McCoy in on the history of the ‘Master’ and the long legacies of some of the
Vampires. Suddenly McCoy winced and let out a soft
moan. His face grew contorted from the
pain he was experiencing. Spock
explained to the group that McCoy was sensing the presence of the ‘Master’. Giles
quickly muttered a spell and McCoy
collapsed forward on the table surface.
He was able to quickly sit back up in his chair, although he was pale
and trembling slightly.
“Thanks,
Giles that was
quite a spell you have there.” McCoy
said rubbing the bridge of his nose.
“You’ll have to teach me that one, anything to get that demonic bastard dictator
to shut the hell up.”
“Doctor,
please watch your
language.” Spock said.
The
others laughed;
McCoy’s humor had relieved the tension at the table. Giles excused himself
from the table and the
others talked more about Sunnydale and the universe and how the Vampires had
made life for humans in any place very difficult. Giles returned with a small
silk pouch on a
braided silk lanyard. He placed the
lanyard around McCoy’s neck and the silk pouch hung at the level of McCoy’s
heart. The Doctor fingered the soft
embroidered silk pouch; there was a small hard disk in the pouch.
“This
is a protective
talisman that will allow you to sense the enemy but they will not be able to
sense your presence. This may help the
severity of your headaches and reactions.”
Giles said taking his seat at the table again.
“Thank
you, Giles.” McCoy said.
“I can still sense their presence but the pain has greatly
decreased.” He tucked the pouch inside
of his shirt where it would not be snagged or removed by their
adversaries.
“I
suggest that we meet by
the cemetery tonight around eight o’clock.
I have printed out a map of Sunnydale for you and I have made a legend
below indicating what the places are. We
will meet you by the front iron gate.”
Giles said handing the map to Spock.
“Then we will follow the leads that Dr. McCoy gives us. If you
both are available, I would like to
take you both to dinner.”
“Thank
you that would be
nice but not necessary.” McCoy said.
“I
insist, you both
treated me to dinner last night and you both are doing us a great service by
assisting us in our efforts to defeat the Vampires.” Giles said.
There were three pairs of hopeful eyes staring at him begging silently
for an invitation also. “You all may
come as well. Bring your equipment with
you and we all can leave from the restaurant.”
“Thanks,
Giles.” Buffy said.
Xander expressed his thanks as well.
Willow
shyly looked over
at Spock, “Will you tell us more about Vulcan’s?”
“It
would be my pleasure
to do so, Willow.” Spock said.
After
the teenagers left
the library, McCoy turned to Spock. “I
think that she might have a crush on you, Spock.”
“A
‘crush’, Doctor?” Spock asked.
“Yes
a crush, it is a form
of worship or affection that young humans have towards a person. Usually it
is a one-sided affection, where
the teenage person has strong, illogical yearnings for another person.” McCoy
said.
“Fascinating.” Spock said and then he turned to Giles. “What
are the functions of Xander and Willow
on your team?”
“Willow
is an intellectual
young woman, who is adept at computer skills and the history and uses of
magic. She shows promise of becoming a
powerful witch. Xander is good support
person and basically an eager team member.
He does not possess any supernatural power but his willing spirit is
good for the team.” Giles said. “Let
me fill you both in on the ‘Hellmouth’
below this library and the activities that we have encountered.”
After
Giles had finished
his recounting of the events that had befallen Sunnydale it was four pm. Spock
and McCoy left for their hotel room and
they would meet Giles and the others at the restaurant.
After
dinner they went to
the cemetery. Spock was dressed in his
black Slayer’s robe with red Vulcan script embroidered on the front; on his
belt were his wooden stakes and a small silver version of the Vulcan lirpa.
McCoy had his medical kit equipped with the garlic Holy Water,
coagulants (Vampires saliva contains a strong anticoagulant), bandages and
other first aid supplies. McCoy
stated that he could detect Vampires in
the close vicinity; in fact there was one who had a very unusual signal almost
within touching distance.
“Angel.” Buffy said as a male Vampire walked towards
them. Angel was a tall handsome,
brooding young man dressed in a leather jacket and dark clothes. McCoy pulled
out his hypo and Spock stood
ready for an encounter. Buffy turned to
them, “Chill, he’s a Vampire but he’s on the good side. Angel,
this is Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy.”
Angel
shook McCoy’s hand
and he made a slight bow to Spock.
“You’re a Vulcan.”
“Yes,
I am. I am interested on how you know about
Vulcan’s.” Spock replied.
“I
have heard some legends
of a race of intelligent aliens that have your specific features. Some of these
legends are confused with
elves.” Angel said.
McCoy
snorted and laughed,
“Just ignore me; I have a pet name for Spock regarding elves.”
Spock
shot McCoy a
reproachable look and then turned his attention back to Angel.
“I
wonder if Tolkien got
his inspirations for the tall elves from these legends.” Willow said;
her admiration of Spock had
reached a new dimension. She loved Legolas
and Arwen, and Arwen had dark hair like Spock.
“I
have serious doubts
that he did.” Giles said. “The
powers of the Elves were more magical
than cerebral.”
Their
discussion of Elves
and Vulcans was cut short by the sounds of screams coming from the other side
of the cemetery. They ran in the
direction of the screams and saw a young woman being passed around by a large
group of Vampires. Buffy and Angel sped
ahead followed by Spock. McCoy looked on
in amazement at Buffy’s kick-boxing, stake driving maneuvers. Angel was
agile for his size and strong. It was Spock who made his heart skip a beat
with his elegant moves and strength.
McCoy still felt the same awe and respect for Spock since the first time
he saw him fight Vampires.
The
Vulcan’s fighting
agility and quickness got the attention of Buffy and Angel. They stepped back
from the fight due to
Spock’s domination of the battle. Within
minutes, there was nothing but the settling dust from the exterminated Vampires
on the ground. Spock reattached his lirpa
to his belt and joined the group.
“Whoa,
Dude, what is that
thing you fight with?” Xander asked pointing to the silver weapon on Spock’s
belt.
“It
is a Vulcan lirpa.
It is smaller in size than the original lirpa. This weapon has been
used since ancient times on Vulcan.”
Spock said.
“I’ve
never seen so many
Vampires lose their head so fast.” Buffy
said, “This is faster than staking them.
Could you give Giles the details of this lirpa; I would like to learn how
to use one?”
“I
would be glad to and I
can instruct you on how to use it and you may practice with mine.” Spock
said.
Suddenly
Giles summoned
Spock over to a bench where McCoy was seated with his head in his hands. “He
is receiving such a strong signal that it
is breaking through the protection of the talisman.” Willow was seated
beside McCoy with her arm
over his shoulders as a comforting gesture.
“He’s
in a lot of pain and
he’s trembling.” Willow said.
Spock
knelt in front of
McCoy and gently lifted his chin to look into his face. He had never seen such
an expression of agony
on the Doctor’s face before. Then he
noticed the blood dripping from his nose.
McCoy usually passed out before the intensity reached this level, the
talisman must be enabling him to remain conscious.
“They’re
coming….” McCoy managed to gasp out.
Vampires
and demons
descended on the group from all different directions. Buffy, Angel and Spock
were immediately
engaged in supernatural combat. Giles
brought Xander and Willow close to him by a tree as he fought off the Vampires
around them. A large Vampire leapt onto
the bench next to McCoy and grabbed him by the throat with one hand while his
other hand grabbed the lanyard and broke it free from around the Doctor’s neck
and then tossed the talisman aside.
Still holding McCoy by the throat he tore away the collar of his shirt
exposing the vulnerable neck.
“The
Master wants me to
welcome you to Sunnydale, Doctor McCoy.
Your constant mental probing has really pissed him off. Now I get to
take the first bite.” The Vampire said with his sharp serrated
teeth and his prominent wrinkled brow.
There was a hissing noise and the Vampire looked confused for a
second. When he didn’t evaporate, the
Vampire opened his mouth wide and got closer to McCoy’s neck. Then a metallic
hypo slid up between them,
next to McCoy’s neck.
“Go
ahead and bite
me. I’ve added some condiments to my
blood that you might enjoy.” McCoy said
with a sly smile.
The
Vampire sniffed the
hypo and McCoy’s neck and made an even uglier face. He threw the Doctor
down on the bench in
disgust. “What the hell did you give
yourself?” He asked but he never
received an answer because Spock’s lirpa
severed his head from his body.
“Thanks,
Spock that was
close.” McCoy said.
“Are
you injured?” Spock said as his warm fingers caressed
McCoy’s exposed neck.
“No,
I’m fine.” McCoy said as he stood up from the
bench. Then his eyes widened. “Spock,
watch out!”
A
Vampire was behind Spock
and she leapt onto Spock’s back. She
encircled his neck with her arms and then bit into his neck. The Vulcan just
stood still until after she
had taken several sips of his blood. She
immediately let go and started spitting out the green blood.
“What
kinda’ crap do you
have as blood? That is disgust…”
She never finished her statement as McCoy
emptied his hypo into her and she dissolved into dust.
“He’s
a very acquired
taste.” McCoy said as he winked at
Spock. Then he tended to the wound on
Spock’s neck. “These Vampires are so
uncivilized. They don’t know a good
thing when they have tasted one.”
“Indeed.” Spock said.
“I would prefer that they do not find your blood as palatable.”
“Well,
it won’t be so
palatable for another four hours.” McCoy
said as he twirled his hypo around in his fingers and set it back into his
medical kit like a gun holster.
The
fight was soon over
and there were no fatalities on their team.
Angel had his arm around Buffy and he was whispering something in her
ear, and the he kissed her.
“That
was so cool what you
did with your metal thingy, Doc. It was
so much like a gunslinger. What’s in
that metal thing anyway?” Xander asked.
“This
is a hypospray
devise. It delivers a fine high
pressured spray into the skin or muscle.
I can deliver any medication without needles.” McCoy informed him.
“What
did you give that
Vampire, she dissolved like she had been spiked.” Xander asked.
“Oh,
it’s just my little
cocktail of garlic and Holy Water. It’s
very effective. If you can’t reach the
Vampire, you can give it to yourself for protection.” McCoy said.
The
rest of the group met
up with them. Buffy, Angel, Willow and
Xander were heading to the local dance club to spend some time together. Giles
was heading home to study about this
Vulcan legend. Spock and McCoy headed back to their hotel.
McCoy
studied Spock in his
slayer robe; the silk draped and clung to his body revealing his lean muscled
form. The black color accentuated his
pale olive complexion. Spock was
beautiful and McCoy reflected on Willow’s suggestion that the Vulcan’s had
visited Earth much earlier than was recorded by Earth or Vulcan history. He
sometimes called Spock his ‘Pointy Eared
Green Elf”, it was a term of endearment for him. Now he reflected on Tolkien’s
descriptions of
the Elves and how elegant and regal they were.
These images fit Spock and the idea was stimulating to him. Instead of
the hot desert conditions of
Vulcan, he envisioned Spock in an emerald green, lush kingdom surrounded by
waterfalls and pools, forests of tall trees and a fern covered grounds, and the
cool nights filled with the exotic scents of flowers and the glow of fairy
light. The images made him almost moan
out loud. Spock gazed at McCoy’s enraptured
expression and a small smile graced his lips.
He slipped out of his robe and gathered McCoy into his arms. He nuzzled
his mouth at the ripped open area
of The Doctor’s shirt and tasted the cool flesh. The thought of anyone
or anything harming his
mate stirred a protective and possessive side of him. He carried McCoy to their
bed and laid him
down. McCoy’s blue eyes were studying
his face and his gentle soft hands caressed his face. Spock could feel the love
coming from this
human and it fueled his possessiveness.
He tenderly removed McCoy’s cloths and felt the soft cool skin; he ran
his sensitive hands along McCoy’s chest, the flat abdomen, and the small hips
and was once again he was reminded of the human fragility. McCoy offered his
two fingers in the gesture
of a Vulcan kiss, and Spock responded.
Then his warm lips met McCoy’s and he kissed him deeply and their bodies
melted into each other. In each other’s
arms, the world faded away.
Down
below the library at
Sunnydale High, the Master could feel this passion. The Doctor’s emotions
were strong, though the
love aspect made him ill. It was the
depth of McCoy’s passions that excited him; it became a sudden obsession for
him. This ardent emotion was stronger
than some of the human blood he had tasted.
How to harvest it was his next task and how to turn this powerful human
force towards him, or into hate? First
he had to deal with the ancient power that was in the Vulcan. The Ancient Ones,
humans had many names for
them: angels, gods, demigods and elves.
They were powerful and their abilities to defeat his race almost wiped
out his early ancestors. This Vulcan
possessed the same strength of mind and body and he could train the Slayer and
her kind into a damaging threat. Surely
there were more Vulcan slayers throughout the galaxy. The Vulcan had to die
before he left Earth. *TBC?*
